The renaming here is like this:
SetStringBuffer -> SetKnownLiveStringBuffer
SetEphemeralStringBuffer -> SetStringBuffer
SetOwnedString -> SetKnownLiveString
SetOwnedAtom -> SetKnownLiveAtom
This should make it clearer what the lifetime expectations are on the caller side.

Bug 1400459 devirtualized nsIAtom so that it is no longer a subclass of
nsISupports. This means that nsAtom is now a better name for it than nsIAtom.
