d7ebbb7e37 Split strict mode into almost-standards and full-standards mode, where the only quirk in almost standards mode is the quirky inline box model. Remove previous fix for bug 151620. 2cea53f1bb 96364 - Register html tag observers directly to parser service rather than nsObserverService. Doing so, reduces a lot of overhead. Also, the observers are now notified via sink. This eliminates the need for parser bundle.

ab37c5705a r=dbaron, sr=dougt. 97667. nsIInterfaceRequestor is now frozen. nsIInterfaceRequestorUtils.h is now required if you want to use do_GetInterface() for convenience. The two were split because the stuff that is now in nsIInterfaceRequestorUtils.h wasn't ready for freezing. Also, .idl files should just contain interface defs anyway. 2001-09-05 21:28:38 +00:00

baba14c5c8 Bug 88413: Remove |GetUnicode()| from nsString (and replace it with |get()|). r=dbaron, rs=scc. 
This removes all call-sites I can currently fix. Tomorrow I'll try to get someone to checkin my changes to security/ and I'll get some help with the Netscape side of things.

nsString::GetUnicode()'s final death-blow will be dealt soon. Please keep this in mind as you add new code :-)

da53dcfac6 Fix for bug 81253. We now sniff upto the first 2k of the first buffer of any HTML stream, looking for a META tag with charset information. If charset information is found, we use it for unicode conversion. This deals with the bulk of cases where we used to do a reload based on charset information in the document. In the worst case (if charset information exists but isn't found during sniffing) we fall back to the reload case. This fix improves initial page load performance for pages with a charset. 4be2167def sr=rpotts. cookie/wallet r=morse, xmlTerm r=saravn@mozdev.org, mailnews r=mscott, activeX r=adamlock, everything else covered by the sr from rpotts. 15345. These changes remove nsIDocumentLoaderObserver.idl from the build, and all of it's implementations and registrations have been moved over to nsIWebProgressListener.idl and nsIWebProgress.idl respectively. there are two (78762, 78760) mailnews printing bugs that I overturned *before* landing this. d865bfd3cb Relanding Necko Changes. 
Revising nsIChannel to allow for overlapped i/o. This consists of three parts:

1. Factoring nsIChannel into a protocol specific part, the nsIChannel, and a socket specific, the nsITransport.
2. Derive the nsIChannel from a nsIRequest.
2. Changes the notification system from necko and the URILoader to pass the nsIRequest interface instead of nsIChannel interface.

This goal stems from wanting to be able to have active AsyncRead and AsyncWrite operations on nsSocketTransport.
This is desired because it would greatly simplify the task of maintaining persistent/reusable socket connections
for FTP, HTTP, and Imap (and potentially other protocols). The problem with the existing nsIChannel interface is
that it does not allow one to selectively suspend just one of the read or write operations while keeping the other active.
