39c3ff480d Bug 1767346 - Use browsing context activeness rather than renderLayers to determine process priority. r=mccr8,mconley,geckoview-reviewers,agi
For desktop this should basically have no impact (maybe impacts tab
warming, but if we wanted we could set the priority hint from the tab
switcher the same way we set renderLayers), but Fenix always has
renderLayers as true, effectively, so we were never de-prioritizing the
background tab processes.

7605e07435 Bug 1769619 - Introduce nsIDocShellTreeOwner::primaryContentBrowsingContext, r=smaug
This is currently effectively just a helper around the existing
properties. Theoretically we could streamline things here in the future
by managing primary content entirely based on BrowsingContext rather
than docshell, but there's enough complexity there right now with other
properties like updating properties on content shells as they're
attached, that it's probably not worth trying to unify right now,
especially considering the low number of consumers.

b9ffc526b6 Bug 1753700 - Add priorityHint to allow apps to increase process priority for background tabs r=geckoview-reviewers,mccr8,agi
Prior behavior for active tabs in an inactive app would have the process priority oom score of 15. Now it's set to a higher priority oom score of 11. This will increase priority for recently used tabs on apps and prevent Android from unloading them.

3f131b48c2 Bug 1732818 - Ensure DestroyComplete is run even if the BrowserParent is already destroyed, r=smaug
I was unable to determine why the BrowserParent is already destroyed,
but the change of checking `CanSend()` in `nsFrameLoaderDestroyRunnable`
seems to have fixed the issue in my test run.

My original theory was that somehow the BrowserParent is being destroyed
before it is associated with the nsFrameLoader, but the assertions to
that effect which I added didn't seem to fire. I'm guessing this may
have something instead to do with BFCache, but I'm not completely
certain.

This accomplishes 2 things:

1. Allows us to directly fetch the layersId of the process that is

7f2504bcde Bug 1618547 - Support Fission in the process priority manager. r=kmag, gsvelto
With Fission, there can be multiple BrowserParents in a single tab, so
this patch moves the tracking of active tabs onto the top BrowsingContext
in a tab. If the priority of a top BC is changed, then the activity
of all of the BPs of the BCs in the tree are all adjusted. The flag
that tracks this state gets carried forward to the new BC in the case
of a cross-group navigation by the changes in ReplacedBy().

The other change here covers the case where we do a process-switching
navigation on an iframe. If we create a new BrowserParent with an active
top BC, then the BP gets marked as active in the priority manager. Doing
this tracking on the BP instead of the BC (both here in and in the part
that landed previously in BrowserParent::Deactivated()) means that we
don't need to track down every place that a BC switches processes.

I left the tracking of activity in ParticularProcessPriorityManager
centered around BrowserParents, instead of changing it to BCs, to
minimize the changes required. There are some tricky interactions there
with wakelocks that I didn't want to have to figure out.

browser_ProcessPriorityManager.js was set up to track a mapping of
browsers to priorities, but for the purposes of testing Fission support
I changed it to track a mapping of child IDs to priorities.

In the test, I also removed an assignment (this.window = null) that
didn't seem to be doing anything.

136e604164 Bug 1635914 - Move active flag handling explicitly to BrowsingContext. r=nika
And have it mirror in the parent process more automatically.

The docShellIsActive setter in the browser-custom-element side needs to
be there rather than in the usual DidSet() calls because the
AsyncTabSwitcher code relies on getting an exact amount of notifications
as response to that specific setter. Not pretty, but...

BrowserChild no longer sets IsActive() on the docshell itself for OOP
iframes. This fixes bug 1679521. PresShell activeness is used to
throttle rAF as well, which handles OOP iframes nicely as well.

a7185cba9a Bug 1589102 - Part 1: Enable about:srcdoc loads via DocumentChannel, r=mattwoodrow
This patch enables sandboxed srcdoc loads to take place via DocumentChannel,
and adds mechanisms for enabling unsandboxed ones.

Both unsandboxed srcdoc, and in subsequent patches, about:blank, loads require
that the triggering principal and the principal to inherit point to the same
instance if the load takes place in the same process as where we are inheriting
those principals from. We save those principals on a target browsing context before
we load the URI, and later, when we are deserializing LoadInfoArgs into
LoadInfo in the content process, we retrieve the saved principals if the
current load identifier of the target BC matches the load identifier saved
along with the principals.

We also need to make sure that during a process switch for about:srcdoc load,
we don't use the original URI for about:srcdoc to determine the remote type and
instead we use channel's result principal.

890c6ea021 Bug 1625615 - part0 : create and set the flag suspendMediaWhenInactive on docShell. r=baku, farre
Implemecurnt a flag `suspendMediaWhenInactive` on the docShell that indicates media in that shell should be suspended when the shell is inactive. Currently, only GeckoView is using this flag.

---

The reason of implementing this flag is because in bug1577890 we remove the old way to suspend/resume the media, and I thought setting docshell to inactive is enough to suspend the media because we already have a mechanism which would suspend/resume media when document becomes inactive/active [1].

However, the active state of document is actually different from what I thought it was. Setting docshell to inactive won't change the document's active state, because that indicates if the document is the current active document for the docshell [2] (docshell can have multiple documents), instead of indicating if the docshell is active or not.

Therefore, we have to add another flag to indicate if the docshell wants to suspend its media when it's inactive, in order to use current mechanism to suspend/resume media.
