21e78b1faf Bug 1749004. Call CancelManagedPostRefreshObservers after frame tree is destroyed. r=emilio
nsPresContest::RegisterManagedPostRefreshObserver still lets us add a managed post refresh observer until the mPresShell pointer on the prescontent is nulled out. That means that between the call to CancelManagedPostRefreshObservers and mPresContext->DetachPresShell() (which nulls out the mPresShell pointer on the prescontext) in PresShell::Destroy we can add a managed post refresh observer that will never get removed. Notably, destroying the frame tree happens between these two calls.

So move the CancelManagedPostRefreshObservers call to happen right after we null out the mPresShell pointer on the prescontext.

In bug 1737503 I want to add a managed post refresh observer when we destroy a subdocument frame (it's only interested in the recreate frames case not the destruction case, but not an easy way to tell them apart afaik), so it triggers this bug. The patch and test I have for that bug exercise this scenario.

595990bb1e Bug 1743310 - Remove paint flashing. r=gfx-reviewers,lsalzman
It's only meaningfully read in two places:

 * WebRender fallback code.
 * Some widget DEBUG-only code, which on Linux is ifdef'd and on Windows does
some rather sketchy things like sleeping for 30ms

So I think it should be ok to remove, since WR fallback has its own flashing
pref as well, IIUC.

8064f0a229 Bug 1741666 - Don't rely on global look-and-feel-changed notification in ToolbarIconColor. r=Gijs
It might fire before styles are invalidated, so it might cache the wrong
styles.

Instead, fire an event on the window once everything in that window has
been invalidated, not just the global theme.

This is causing failures with the patch in bug 1740089, since after that
patch `browser_ext_browserAction_theme_icons` trigger the theme changes
when switching from dark to default mode or similar.

1748af94ea Bug 1455514 - part 2: Add accessors and static helper methods to retrieve nsPIDOMWindowInner, nsPIDOMWindowOuter and nsPIWindowRoot r=smaug
Similar to the previous patch, there are a lot of QI from `EventTarget` to
window interfaces. This patch adds them, but unfortunately,
`nsPIDOMWindowInner` and `nsPIDOMWindowOuter` do not inherit `EventTarget`
directly, and they are in a public header instead of their concrete classes
(`nsGlobalWindowInner` and `nsGlobalWindowOuter`). So we cannot cast them
in `nsPIDOMWindow.h`, and it causes it's impossible to use the macros added
by the previous patch.

628f3ba93c Bug 1455514 - part 1: Add accessors and static helper methods to retrieve nsINode or its concrete classes from EventTarget r=smaug
Currently, checking whether an `EventTarget` is `nsINode` (or its concrete
classes) or not requires a QI, but it's expensive and used a lot while we
handle each event. Therefore, it'd be nicer for creating a virtual method,
`EventTarget::IsNode()` and use it for the check.

If trying to convert `EventTarget` to a concrete class, it may require two
virtual method calls. I'm not sure whether it's cheaper than a QI, but at
least, it won't depend on the UUID check order of `QueryInterface()` when
multiple interfaces are implemented.

ad6ebc7f23 Bug 1525107 - Make Canvas/CanvasText and Link colors color-scheme-aware. r=dholbert
For that, add `.dark` version of the browser.display* prefs that control
the light version of these colors.

The default for background/foreground colors are taken from the
GenericDarkColors used in LookAndFeel.

The defaults for links are based on this discussion:

  https://github.com/whatwg/html/issues/5426#issuecomment-904021675

(So they effectively match Chrome).

Whether the dark colors should be exposed in about:preferences (like the
light colors are) is TBD.

With this patch, we pass all the tests in:

  /html/semantics/document-metadata/the-meta-element/color-scheme/

Use the colors to paint the default canvas background and the default
colors.

There are three "regressions", though they are really progressions: we
now render the reference as the test expects (before we rendered a light
canvas background even for the reference).

Apart of these iframe tests (which we should look into, I filed
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1738380), there are three
remaining test failures.

Two of them are due to `color: initial` not changing based on the
color-scheme. Safari also fails these tests, and the thing they're
really testing is whether system colors are preserved at computed-value
time:

  https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/3847

Regarding that change, I'm not so sure the trade-offs there are worth
it, as that not only complicates interpolation (we wouldn't be able to
use system colors in color-mix among others, see
https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/5780) plus it changes
inheritance behavior in sorta unexpected ways, see:

  https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/6773

Which I just filed because apparently no browser implements this
correctly. So for now will punt on those (keep matching Safari).

There's an svg-as-image test:

  https://searchfox.org/mozilla-central/rev/f8576fec48d866c5f988baaf1fa8d2f8cce2a82f/testing/web-platform/tests/css/css-color-adjust/rendering/dark-color-scheme/svg-as-image.html

Which isn't using the feature at all and I'm not sure why is it supposed
to pass (why prefers-color-scheme: dark is supposed to match that SVG
image). This test fails in all browsers apparently:

  https://wpt.fyi/results/css/css-color-adjust/rendering/dark-color-scheme/svg-as-image.html?label=master&label=experimental&aligned

I sent https://github.com/web-platform-tests/wpt/pull/31407 to remove
it and hopefully get it reviewed by some Chromium folks.

e3fcd438ab Bug 1733465 part 3: Make nsPresContext::GetRootWidget() return an already_AddRefed pointer instead of a raw pointer. r=tnikkel
Also, make the same change to nsPresContext::GetTextInputHandlingWidget and
TextComposition::GetWidget, which are essentially aliases/wrappers for this
function.

This patch shouldn't change behavior at all, aside from:
* optimizing away some redundant reference counting and widget-lookups
* delaying some nsIWidget::Release() calls, which will now happen after we're
actually done using the object, instead of happening when the getter
completes. (It's unlikely this impacts behavior, because there are other
objects that are keeping the nsIWidget instance alive.)

Motivation / "wins" from this patch:
* nsPresContext::GetRootWidget already works with a refcounted pointer
internally. Before this patch, it drops the reference before returning the
pointer. This is a bit suspect and would cause security issues, in the
unlikely event that this were the last strong reference to the object. It
can just as easily/efficiently transfer the strong reference to the caller,
and let the caller determine when to release it.
* Many of the callers were already storing the return value in nsCOMPtr, which
meant that they were incurring an additional AddRef/Release when
populating/destructing that smart pointer. Now they can just take ownership
of the already_AddRefed return value and avoid redundnat refcount-churn.
* For the callers that weren't storing the return value in nsCOMPtr, some of
them were calling this getter twice in a row (once to test for truthiness and
once to use the known-truthy value). This was wasteful, both from the
repeated lookup-work (since the function isn't a trivial getter), and from
repeated refcount-churn. This patch collapses these repeat-calls to a single
  call, avoiding those inefficiencies.

SetContainer handling is similar to what DocumentViewer does for the old bfcache implementation.
(The old implementation hides it quite well).
The changes to HTMLMediaElement are needed to ensure page can enter bfcache.

Removed erroneous MOZ_ASSERT in nsPresContext, it is ok to trigger that code path in the new implementation.
And the Run() method of the relevant nsIRunnable already deals with that case.

c547df5c1c Bug 1715501 - patch 2 - Pass the presContext to platform font lookup methods so they can query it for font visibility. r=emilio
This does not in itself change user-visible behavior, but is a foundation for bug
1715507 where we will make the behavior per-context instead of global. This is basically
just plumbing, passing a pointer to the presContext that's asking for fonts to be
resolved all the way down to the gfx code that handles the font list and looks up
fonts.

For the immediate goal of making font visibility work per-context, it would be
sufficient to pass the desired visibility level in to the font-selection methods.
However, passing the actual presContext down (and not just its visibility level)
will enable us to report back via the dev console when a font is blocked (see bug
1715537), so the approach here provides the basis for that upcoming enhancement.

9122a09364 Bug 1715501 - patch 2 - Pass the presContext to platform font lookup methods so they can query it for font visibility.

1715537), so the approach here provides the basis for that upcoming enhancement.

ba791647d7 Bug 1728690. nsDOMNavigationTiming Notify*ForRootContentDocument should use IsRootContentDocumentCrossProcess. r=sefeng
AFAICT these functions are interested in documents at the root of a tab, not ones that happen to be at the root of a process.
